Billy Graham followed Beverly Shea’s last solo that prepared the crowd for his message. Then he preached the gospel in its purest and simplest form and with the most profound gentleness of Christ’s love. The anointing of the Holy Spirit energized Graham, the servant of God, with amazing results from responsive audiences nightly. Whatever the sermon title, night by night, it always uplifted Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who loved us and gave Himself for us. The apostle Paul personalized this blessed truth of Christ by declaring, “. . . who loved me and gave Himself for me” ( Gal. 2:20f NKJV).
