Maria Woodworth-Etter had been active in ministry for some time, but 1885 appears to be the beginning of her ministry in a Pentecostal dimension. In America her ministry was marked with outstanding healings, the Baptism of the Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues as the Holy Spirit gave utterance, and visions and the gifts of the Spirit in operation. In his book entitled, Canadian Pentecostals: A History of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, Thomas William Miller refers to Woodworth-Etter and Aimee Semple McPherson3 numerous times as being leaders in ministry.
