Dear Missions Partner,
Shirley and I thank God for each one of you! For so many years you have continued to stand faithfully with us working together touching lives around the world. You and we together are an efficient ministry team. Each one doing their part so the winning of souls may continue.
In the early days of our overseas ministry (forty years ago) we preached several times each day to a few hundred people. Each message brought large percentages forward for salvation. At months end I would have preached 130-170 or more times. But that was all we could do.
Today with hi -tech communications the gospel is preached over dozens of satellites around the globe 24/7 to many millions of people. By Zoom we can now speak from the office/studio to audiences anywhere in the world.
Short wave radio is another arm of ministry we have used in the past and are praying about using again, and for airtime dollars to be available. With it we reach the 10 – 40 window. Which is approx. between 10 degrees and 40 degrees North of the Equator. This frequency reaches North Africa the Middle East and Asia). More lost people of most every race and religion, live in this rectangle than any other place on earth. Pray with us for the various aspects of ministry and especially for this 10-40 short wave challenge.
We are all enjoying in a wonderful summer, blue sky and sunshine, but it can take its toll on our monthly ministries we support. Please pray that we can recover the summer decline quickly.
The Banquet date is set – Friday Oct 25th.
Garden Park Tower 2825 Clearbrook Rd. Abbotsford
Time 6:30PM. Doors open 6:15 PM Magnolia Room.
Worship will be led by Marcus & Cathy Unger D.V. This is your Banquet invitation to an evening of fellowship, praise and worship, following an ‘over the top’ buffet.
Please invite with you another couple who also enjoy missions.
Pray that Davis and Sophia Abraham who are scheduled to minister in Uganda and Israel earlier, that they will be able to join us at the event. They are tentatively planning to be with us this year, as God permits.
New regulations with the caterer now require us to pay for the banquet weeks before the event. This means we need to know at least three weeks before how many are coming. Please confirm your coming and how many will attend, by phoning 604 807 5678 as early as you can.
In earlier years God has blessed us by having one or several to joint underwrite the event. This would be a MIRACLE provision, and enables the entire offering to go directly to missions. PT!
Shirley and I continue to generally enjoy good health, except that my spinal condition has been extremely annoying recently, causing me great pain and affecting my walking considerably. Please also pray for this condition, that God will touch me and minister to this need, as we have seen Him do endlessly on the field.
Davis Abraham has written a fine report of our trip to Sri Lanka with him and Sophia, which is included here. Global also partners with them to minister in Uganda and Israel, their ministry there is growing in many ways.

Sri Lanka- “Witnessing Legacy”
I was fortunate to join John and Shirley in Indonesia in 2015. So, I thought I had somewhat of an idea of what to expect when partnering with Global Outreach and travelling to Sri Lanka. However, God is always doing a new thing when we are obedient, this trip held equally amazing moves of God but they came in new ways.
Touched down in Sri Lanka and it was quickly apparent the love and legacy that John and Shirley have as three pastors that they have known for 40 years waited at the arrival gate for us. There was true joy that Pastor John and Shirley had returned, I felt so blessed that the honour showed to them was showed to Sophia and I as well. The Pastors that picked us up were the leadership team of the PAOSL (Pentecostal Assemblies of Sri Lanka) they shared stories of how Pastor John helped them set up this denomination in Sri Lanka and the now 40 churches that were part of their church family.
It seemed like they wanted us to visit every church during this period so it was safe to say are schedule was very packed. As we moved around the country we ministered in Churches, people’s homes, bible schools and even to people on the streets that God brought onto our paths. A highlight for me being able to lead services with Sophia. As newlyweds, I thought it was such a wonderful way to begin our married lives together and minister together. Sophia would lead worship on her harp and I would open the word and share. Sometimes when the schedule was very full John and Shirley would go preach at an event and Sophia and I would be sent elsewhere to cover as much ground as possible. We spent some amazing days in the mountains of Sri Lanka with workers of the tea plantations. We saw people healed and give their lives to Jesus for the first time! It was so encouraging to see people hungry for prayer and encounters with God. One highlight for me was when a man with a paralyzed hand from an accident asked for prayer and the range of movement in his hand was restored! These miracles don’t just effect individuals they display of the power of God’s love affects whole communities! Sophia lived working with Shirley specifically with women and they hosted several women’s meetings/seminars.
The church in Sri Lanka is hungry and many Buddhist people are searching for more. I was also blown away by the body of Chinese believers in Sri Lanka. While I was there I had the opportunity to preach in the Chinese Fellowship of Sri Lanka in Mandarin. Chinese missionaries are working with the huge Chinese community that is there to work and Chinese are turning to Jesus, in Sri Lanka!
Global Outreach has surely blessed Sri Lanka over the last 40 years and I am so thankful I got the chance to be part of it. They need people and funds to continue to support the founding of new fellowships across the country. I hope I will have the opportunity to return to Sri Lanka and minister soon!
Cambridge – “Consolidating Purpose”
Since being in Sri Lanka Sophia and I are aware that mission is not just for the overseas we returned to the UK and have been conscious of our mission field in the UK. We have been surrounded by academics from many countries but God has particularly been using me with the Chinese community. I have befriended and been running Bible studies with Chinese students from Cambridge University. Since I spent time in China and speak mandarin God is really opening this door and there is a hunger. These students are some of the brightest and will surely go on to be leaders in their countries.
We believe God has positioned us here for this time to influence with the Kingdom people who will be influencers. Through running Bible studies, Alpha course and worship nights we have been able to develop true friendships and foster an openness and seeking for God. Often these students are so head smart but there is somewhat of a moral vacuum. When challenging them questions of love, purpose and providence I have found myself in some very interesting conversations and a unveiling a real hunger for Truth. There have been 4 Chinese boys join us regularly at our house for these kind of discussions and times of prayer. We pray that we will see break through with these guys. In the Autumn-winter I plan to run a Chinese alpha course and invite as many Chinese students as possible to participate. Please be prayerful that hearts would be softened, intellect wouldn’t hold people from Truth and that we would be answering difficult questions with answers divinely inspired.
“Breaking bread “More like Breaking Noodles, watching the Alpha course and discussion.
Israel – Ministering to the poor in Spirit.
Two years ago, I went to Israel to support a ministry that hosts a large conference in Israel for Christians around the world. It was a time of God speaking, connections and we also did street outreach and saw Jews and Muslims alike witness healing miracles, words of knowledge and come to Jesus! It was also at that time that I found myself praying and fasting about proposing to Sophia. It is therefore very fitting that as we go to Israel this time we will be going as husband and wife. I will be helping with the same ministry and praying for more of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
Sophia also expects to use her harp ministry and Music Therapy expertise to open doors to work with the Israelis who are the released/escaped hostages from the October 7 attack. We have already made one connection but we pray that God continues to open door to meet and minister to more of these people who are currently poor in spirit. We truly believe that music and therapy will open doors for intentional conversation, healing and seeds to be planted.
Sophia is developing a Kingdom Business in making her own beginners/worship harps with a wood worker in Ireland. She is not only creating harps that are a lot more affordable she has also developed an online learning platform that people can follow along online and learn harp from anywhere in the world. She is doing this because she believes in the power of worship (especially on the harp), it is a way of opening missional opportunities as we have seen in Israel and it is a form of “tent making” to support our ministry.
If you’d be interested in learning more about this feel free to get in touch or have a look at her website.

Floopy Freedom – “Kingdom Business”
Floopy Freedom continues to work with women in Uganda that have been in the sex trade. Global Outreach has supported us on our mission in Uganda and to date we have sponsored 15 women through life changing vocational and discipleship training. Many of these girls have become Christian’s through this programme, are now serving in their local church and completely turned away from prostitution, replacing their wages through the money generated from their new vocational sewing skill.
This summer we have been attending events as Floopy Freedom and selling our products to generate profits to support our ministry, sponsor more women through life changing vocational and discipleship training. We are also very conscious of the missional role we play by being present as a Kingdom business at various events/festivals. This year a young man who came to work part time on our stall gave his life to the lord because of being present with us at events and the power of testimony. He came up to me grinning ear to ear and said, “you’re now looking at a 100% committed Christian”. Seeds are also being planted in young people as a result of seeing missions and being the hands and feet modelled. Many young people that we have met in previous years have told us they are going mission Teams to Africa or praying for missions because of seeing the work we do.
Many young people have enquired about joining us on mission In Uganda. It is something we are prayerfully considering, to strengthen their faith but also to bring the good news to Northern Uganda.
Our hope is that we can grow this brand and it is known we can make Him known and support more women break out bondage and into freedom! That is freedom from prostitution but ultimately Freedom in Christ!
